Our Story
Built from the Fireline
Vulcan Risk Solutions began in 2014 with a simple but bold idea: that well-trained, well-led wildfire crews could redefine safety and performance on the fireline.
The journey started with the introduction of South Africa’s first dedicated Type 1 Wildfire Crew. Our initial proof-of-concept wildfire crew quickly set new national benchmarks for operational excellence – and set the tone for Vulcan’s future.
Our products and solutions haven't designed in a boardroom — with a background in design, and first hand operational experience, our Managing Director Patrick Ryan, has continually sought to find solutions to the challenges that we all face on the frontline. Every piece of gear, every training programme, and every risk solution we offer has been conceived on the frontline of operations and tested where it matters most.
How We've Grown
What began with South Africa’s first specialist wildfire crew has evolved into a trusted provider of integrated wildfire risk solutions, equipment and gear for incident responders and the fireline, and Incident Management System (ICS) training.
Our work spans across industries, from firefighting, petrochemical and maritime safety to corporate OHSA compliance and local government, where we provide both consulting services, product development and training.
Led by Experts, Designed for Operations. Vulcan’s short courses, delivered by professionals with decades of operational experience, have been developed by our Learning Specialist Team, aligning and offering the certification required of both SAQA and Nelson Mandela University.
